The 4,400m³ Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger Francesco di Giorgio has come into service in 2003, together with its sistership Taccola and was built at Izar, Astillero de Gijon for Jan de Nul NV. Alewijnse supplied both TSHD’s with ALVAS alarm & monitoring equipment and the complete Northrop Grumman navigation and communication package. These systems were integrated by Alewijnse into the electrical installation, which was delivered by a local Spanish company. Alewijnse engineers succesfully engineered, installed and commissioned the navigation & communication equipment of Northrop Grumman.
